ALICE COOPER - AN ARTIST IS BORN - February 4, 2014

Today's special An Artist Is Born shoutout goes to ALICE COOPER (1948). A singer, guitarist and songwriter, Cooper is known for his wild theatrics and is considered to be the "Godfather of Shock Rock." He began his musical career as the frontman for the band that he would later adopt as his own name for when he embarked on a solo career. He has sold over 50 million albums and has had several charting singles, perhaps his most notable being the 1972 release "School's Out (US - #2)." Cooper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2011.

Other notable music birthdays today include guitarist Paul Burlison (1929), Animals drummer John Steel (1941), Kansas drummer Phil Ehart (1950), Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley (1952), James vocalist Tim Booth (1960), and Offspring guitarist Noodles (1963).
