KATHY VALENTINE - AN ARTIST IS BORN

Today's special An Artist Is Born birthday shoutout goes to KATHY VALENTINE (1959). A bassist, singer, guitarist, and songwriter, Valentine is best known as the bassist for American all-female rock band THE GO-GO's. She is credited as the sole writer of the group's song "Can't Stop The World," in addition to co-writing big hits of theirs including "Head Over Heels (US - #11)" and "Vacation (US - #8)." Valentine also released one solo album back in 2005 that she co-produced, wrote, arranged, sang and played guitar on. Outside of her solo work and the Go-Go's, she performs regularly with bands The Impossible and BlueBonnets.

Other notable music birthdays today include rock photographer and Paul McCartney's younger brother Mike McGear (1944), singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins (1948), and Earl Lindo of Bob Marley & The Wailers (1953).
