BROOKLYN’S FIRST SCHOOL OF ROCK SET TO OPEN IN GOWANUS

Get ready to rock out in Gowanus.

School of Rock, an international company with more than 100 locations across the U.S. is set to open its first Brooklyn outpost in the industrial neighborhood next month.

The after-school rock institute will join the ranks of about half a dozen kid-friendly music schools across the borough, but School of Rock franchise owner Mike Addesso says he isn’t worried about the competition.

“What is unique about us is that we are performance-based,” said Addesso, 29, a lifelong drummer who studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

“We’re really getting kids out there in the real world and they’re learning from real New York City musicians that are gigging and performing,” he added.
