Rookies is a music program designed for children (typically 6 to 7-year-olds) with no previous musical experience. As with all our music programs, Rookies adheres to the patented School of Rock Method. Our Method's core philosophy is that performance-based music education is the best way for students to gain musical proficiency. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn music fundamentals like chords, rhythm, and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they are then able to decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101.
Our revolutionary educational music program has been awarded a U.S. patent, making the School of Rock Method available nowhere else. The School of Rock Method builds musical proficiency through our proprietary Method App, Method Book collection, SongFirst approach, and performance-based music curriculum. The School of Rock Method has been refined and perfected for over 25 years, culminating in an educational music program that is proven to teach music. Online music lessons are also available and utilize the same patented curriculum we use in our schools. Our programs are designed to inspire kids to learn to play music and get them on stage performing, with the goal of attaining strong musical proficiency. Younger students who are not ready for a more comprehensive program like Rock 101 can start in Rookies. Additionally, students who have completed the Little Wing program will progress into the Rookies music program. No prior musical experience is needed for Rookies. Once your child is ready for private music lessons (typically older than first and second graders), they will graduate into our Rock 101 program.
