After months of practice and hard work, the adult band from our newest school in Ankeny put on a stellar season show featuring One Hit Wonders. 

Since our Ankeny campus opened last summer, our programs have grown and we’re so happy to see so many people rocking out with us. The adult band has spent months practicing songs under the theme One Hit Wonder. On a nice warm February afternoon, with the garage doors open at Uptown Garage Brewing Co. in Ankeny, they put on an amazing cap to their first season.

From A-ha’s Take On Me to Soft Cell’s Tainted Love, and Bow Wow Wow’s I love Candy. The group played an amazing set list of well-known songs. You may have remembered their appearance at Kenny’s Garage in Waukee in December, opening for the West Des Moines adult band. But this was a show that many people were looking forward to.

The West Des Moines group returned the favor this time and opened for the Ankeny band. They also had a great set list, with classic songs such as Hotel California, The Chain, and Crazy On You.

Something behind the scenes you may not have noticed… the positivity cue cards on stage! A band member from West Des Moines wanted to cheer on artists on stage and created signs that say “HAVE FUN!” and “YOU ARE KIND OF A BIG DEAL”.

How much better can February get in Iowa? Good music, a brew or two, and a nice warm afternoon to enjoy it all.
