Chloe Weidl is a drums instructor at the Cedar Rapids/Marion School of Rock and has been part of the staff since April 2021.  Before becoming a teacher, Weidl was a student at the SOR in Geneva, IL while in high school.  So, the transition to teaching was easy when she moved to Iowa because she already knew how the program works.

"My favorite aspect of feaching is helping students, regardless of age, achieve something they thought they couldn't do," Weidl said.

Besides music, this instructor also tries to teach students some life lessons.  Part of a session includes challenges a student believes they can't achieve.  But with some patience and working together, what feels impossible is very possible.

"Seeing their faces light up when they get it right is the best thing in the world," she said.  "I know that each day I come to work will have its challenges and triumphs, and ultimately it helps make me a better musician, teacher, and friend."

Fun Fact:  Chloe plays in two bands in Iowa City.  The band Two Canes focuses on hard rock, while mars hojilla plays pop rock music.  Both her bands play around Iowa City and they're working to release music on different streaming platforms.
