Nestled in the picturesque town of Bedford, New York in Westchester County, School of Rock stands as a beacon for young musicians and aspiring rock stars alike. With its vibrant community and commitment to musical education, the School of Rock offers an array of exciting summer camps tailored to inspire and cultivate the talents of its students 9 and up. Whether your child is a budding guitarist, a future drummer, or a vocal prodigy, there’s a program designed to ignite their passion and elevate their musical skills.

Week 1. Rock Revolutionaries - July 8-12

Campers will learn the music of 60s and 70s rock icons such as The Beatles, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac and more in our 60s & 70s Rock Revolutionaries summer camp. In addition to songs, students will learn about rock history and the stagecraft needed to perform on a stage. At the end of the week, students will put on a live performance. Great for students 9-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

Week 2. 80s Prom Night - July 15-19

Campers will travel back in time to an era of fluorescent clothes, poofy hair, and the best synth-driven pop anthems you will ever hear. The 80s brought us a wave of new sounds and genres, and produced hits that still rock the airwaves todays. In this camp, we'll focus on the biggest hits from artists like Billy Idol, Devo, Cyndi Lauper, Van Halen, Flock of Seagulls and many more. Monday through Friday will be spent learning and practicing songs from the 80s, all culminating in a live performance. Great for students 9-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

Week 3. 90s Alternative & Grunge Rock - July 22-26

The 90s were one of music’s most important decades as grunge and alternative music took over the airwaves and popular culture. While some connect the era of ‘90s Rock to the Seattle-area Grunge scene with bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, this show expands to also feature acts like Hole, Stone Temple Pilots, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Green Day. Students will spend Monday through Friday learning and practicing songs from the 90s, all culminating in a live performance. Great for students 9-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

Week 4. Y2K Rock Classics - July 29-August 2

The Y2K camp offers a huge variety of music that is sure to satiate any student’s musical appetite. The 2000s has produced more and more artists whose music blends and defies genres, and draws from a greater variety of influences than was available at any previous point in history. Examples of blockbuster artists that might be in the setlist include Muse, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Jet, and many others! Students will spend Monday through Friday learning and practicing songs from the 90s, all culminating in a live performance. Great for students 9-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

Week 5. History of Ozzfest - August 5-9

This week, we’ll celebrate and highlight the history of Ozzy and the birth of his festival Ozzfest. The festival was created in 1996 by Ozzy's wife and manager, Sharon, after she was rebuffed by Lollapalooza when she tried to get Ozzy on that festival circuit. The tour was well-received, which prompted it to become a yearly occurrence. Ozzy’s ability to bring together the biggest and baddest names in modern rock earned him his spot as the Godfather of heavy metal. Over the years, a variety of bands have made up the yearly lineups, including Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Slipknot, Anthrax, and many more! Students will spend Monday through Friday learning and practicing songs from the 90s, all culminating in a live performance. Great for students 9-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

Week 6. Taylor Swift - August 19-23

This week, we’ll be celebrating the many musical talents of Taylor Swift! Her rise to stardom has been meteoric, so it’s no surprise she’s put out one chart-topping album after another over the years. The massive success of her Eras Tour has made her an undeniable global sensation, and the perfect songwriter to fill in the “Blank Space” of summer learning! This camp will be perfect for die-hard Swifties or anyone looking to hone their skills. We’ll focus on learning the best of her catalog over the years from her self-titled first album to Midnights and beyond, culminating in a live performance at the end of the camp week. Great for students 9-18 who have had some previous instruction.

Week 7. Green Day vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers - August 26-30

This week, we’ll be focusing on two rock titans - Green Day and the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Both bands have been iconic on the California rock scene since the mid-80s, really hitting their strides in the early 90s. While Green Day errs more towards classic punk and eventually “skate punk”, RHCP has been consistently all over the genre-board, fluctuating from funk to alternative and finding their niche in “rap rock”. Green Day’s early-punk influences come out in their guitar licks and angsty lyrics, which crowds all over the world have resonated with for more than 30 years! RHCP’s songwriting is heavily inspired by their experiences coming up in L.A., and regularly makes reference to their former bandmates in their lyrics. This week will be culminating in a live performance at the end of the camp week. Great for students 9-18 who have had some previous instruction.
