Our Experienced Music Teachers
All of School of Rock Brookline’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. Our instructors guide students one-on-one to personalize learning, inspire confidence and build social skills.
Stevie
General Manager
Stevie joins us all the way from Adelaide, Australia, where she grew up trying her hand at any instrument she could get her hands on, eventually landing on the drums and never looking back. Before moving to the US, Stevie was a prolific musician in the cabaret and indie scenes, as well as playing in the Royal Australian Navy Band for nearly 10 years.
Since making America home, Stevie has taught drums at the School of Rock in Chicago as well as built jazz and contemporary music programs at summer camps in New Jersey and Michigan. She is certain to bring a fresh musical style to our School of Rock in Brookline given her momentary fascination with Scandinavian pop music courtesy of the recent Eurovision Song Contest, and her love of anything ska, emo, or the current wave of edgy girly pop.
When she's not rocking out with her various projects here in Boston, Stevie is perfecting her baking or exploring New England with her dog Basel.
Owen
Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Owen is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist from Connecticut currently studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He started taking music lessons at age 6, eventually enrolling at School of Rock at 11. Owen specializes in rock, funk, and jazz fusion. As a School of Rock student, Owen honed his skills on various instruments and was eventually selected to the School of Rock AllStars program in 2022. Outside of School of Rock, he started a jazz fusion duo called Small Pool, wrote several songs, and produced a full-length album—all before graduating high school.
Owen has studied with many distinguished drummers including Ben Atkind, formerly of the band Goose, and worked as Ben’s drum tech for several shows in 2023. Since graduating from high school and School of Rock, Owen’s primary project has been his band Jammwich (rock/funk/prog), in which he has written several songs and is gigging steadily. Currently, Owen is studying music production and performance at Berklee.
Aili
Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Vocal Teacher
Aili taught herself how to play guitar and piano and sing at a young age. She now studies songwriting and music production at Berklee College of Music. Growing up in a small town cultivated Aili's passion for expressing herself through music. Her favorite artists include Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, and Hozier. Aili has written songs for many local artists and has a talent for transforming someone’s story, experience, or feelings into a song that makes listeners feel like they are on a journey. Her musical outlets are songwriting, performing, and jamming with others.
Aili is inspired by the connection that writing and playing music with others brings to a room; she is excited for her students to experience it. Aili looks forward to teaching all types of people and cultivating their passion for expressing themselves with music.
Jules
Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Vocal Teacher
Jules is a songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist from Boston, Massachusetts. Jules has been extremely passionate about music creation since early childhood. Jules began writing and self-producing when they were gifted an audio interface for Christmas in middle school; Jules has been self-releasing music since then. Jules attended Hofstra University in Long Island, NY, and studied music education and music business, with a concentration in voice, especially that of classical and operatic vocals.
Jules is heavily involved in the local music scene, frequently performing with their band, which they front as a vocalist and guitarist. Jules also helps organize arts and music events in the Boston area.
Joe
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Joe, a Philadelphia transplant currently attending Berklee College of Music, discovered his passion at just 10 years old when he picked up a guitar for the first time. From that moment, he knew a career in music was his life’s goal. Joe sharpened his skills through years of dedicated practice as a participant in the School of Rock program, where he became a House Band member and earned a spot on the AllStars team at 14. These experiences fueled his drive to perfect his craft, performing countless gigs and embracing the thrill of live music.
A metalhead at heart, Joe’s musical influences extend far beyond the genre. He draws inspiration from shoegaze, rap, funk, and prog, weaving elements from each into his creative approach. His passion for music isn’t limited to performance—Joe is equally captivated by the art of recording and producing. Whether layering intricate guitar riffs or experimenting with innovative sound design, he thrives on pushing creative boundaries to craft unique sonic experiences.
Outside of music, Joe channels his creativity into skateboarding, a lifelong hobby that has shaped his sense of resilience and individuality. Skateboarding offers a different kind of freedom and flow, one that mirrors his artistic process. Both pursuits have taught him the value of persistence, creativity, and building a sense of community.
Now in his fourth semester at Berklee, Joe is focused on refining his recording and production skills while exploring opportunities to blend his musical and technical talents. Looking ahead, he envisions creating music that not only resonates with audiences but also challenges the conventional boundaries of genre and sound.
