It was another successful show from students at the School of Rock Cedar Rapids/Marion. Six groups of students from Rock 101 and Performance Program groups took over the stage at Chrome Horse Saloon in Cedar Rapids.
The kids worked hard all summer preparing for the show, totaling over 2 1/2 hours of music.
General Manager Ian Draves says he is very proud, especially because of the supportive environment the kids created.
The cheers and positive encouragement was evident from the Performance group when the younger musicians from Rock 101 took the stage.
Another impressive factor ws the creativity the kids put into the set list. Draves says the students were able to add their own twist to well-known songs. One interesting example is All Star by Smash Mouth. What's usually a fast-paced song transformed into a slower pace song with an enjoyable vibe.
All the practice and rehearsal time paid off - the crowd clearly loved the show!
