The Assistant General Manager (AGM) runs the show from ACDC to Zappa creating a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential. We want as many kids as possible to have the opportunity to experience the magic that is School of Rock. Our AGMs bring that commitment to life working with every part of the school’s community to put on epic shows through which our students learn music and life skills. The AGM is the primary owner of the relationship with our students and parents, and is the administrative focal point for the School of Rock with outstanding customer service skills and the ability to juggle many tasks. They assist with running the School and creating an amazing experience for all students, parents and prospective customers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- The AGM reports to the Owner / General Manager
- Works with the Owner, Music Director, and Instructors to provide an exceptional music education experience for students, delivering strong engagement with each child and maximizing student enrollment
- Works with Owner to assist in the management of staff and the school facility to provide a safe, cool and appropriate experience for all students
- The AGM serves as the face of the school in the reception area of the school, and provides a top-quality customer service experience
- Handles opening and closing of school (including minor clean-up at end of day, and stocking supplies before and during day)
- Manages marketing, sales and promotions to drive school growth and student success
- Answer phones and fields inquiries; pitches the music program
- Schedules and leads tours for prospective students and parents
- Greets, and looks after students
- The AGM serves as the business manager of the school, in coordination with, and at the direction of the Owner
- Handles complex scheduling for busy music school
- Facilitates financial management of the school including but not limited to analyzing results, tracking budgets, and managing labor costs
- Manages customer communications, including policies, billing and schedule management
- Works with the Owner and Music Director (MD) in the recruitment of exceptional music teachers and identifying iconic music venues and show opportunities
- Delivers results through management of and discipline around business and educational KPIs
- Works on special projects, prepares reports, and other administrative tasks as requested
Skill Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in marketing, sales, and/or customer service environment
- Excellent customer service and relationship skills
- Strong experience recruiting, collaborating with, and managing staff
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven problem solving skills
- Good team player and collaborator who works well across diverse populations
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership skills
- Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
- Experience and interest in working with children
- Passion and/or interest in music and the arts highly desirable
- Highly detail orientation, multi-tasker
- Welcoming, outgoing demeanor is essential
Operational hours include: Monday thru Thursday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm; and, Saturdays from 10:00am to 5:30 pm
Must be available and willing to open and close on operational days (see above), on off hours to accomplish other important tasks, as well as additional hours on show days and at marketing events, as needed and scheduled.

Music instructor

The School of Rock Music Instructor teaches students from ACDC to Zappa. The Instructor creates a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential and ensures that each School of Rock student has an exceptional musical journey.
In support of that goal, the Instructor is responsible for all music and education-related elements within the lessons. The Instructor creates a dynamic lesson experience to ensure their students are challenged and inspired. The Instructor embodies rock and roll in a positive way and is responsible for creating a valuable student lesson experience.
We teach five core areas at School of Rock - guitar, bass, keys, drums and vocals. Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.
Music Instruction:
● Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
● Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
● Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
Customer Connection:
● Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons
● Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
● Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program
● Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
Skill Requirements:
● 4 + years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
● Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design
● Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers and other people
● Strong organizational skills
● Very strong customer relations skills
● Resourceful and good problem-solver
● Works well under pressure
● Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training
● Ideal candidate is a multi-instrumentalist, able to teach some combination of guitar, bass, keys, drums and vocals
● Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
