Hey Art Teachers! Want to Turn Your Students into Professional Artists... While They're Still in School?
What if you could offer your creative arts students an opportunity where their designs actually show up on street corners, in venue windows, and at major community events?
That's exactly what's happening through School of Rock's new Art + Music Initiative in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We're transforming art students into working designers by having them create promotional posters for our upcoming rock shows – but this isn't just another "make a poster" project.
This is the kind of opportunity that changes how students see themselves as artists. It's the difference between "I made this for class" and "I designed this for a client, and now it's promoting real events across town."
What Is The School of Rock Art + Music Initiative?
Our collaboration starts with a field trip to School of Rock, where your students experience the energy of live band rehearsals and meet the young musicians they'll be designing for.
Working from a professional creative brief, they'll develop poster concepts that capture the spirit of upcoming performances. The selected designs are professionally printed and displayed at venues throughout Bucks and Mercer Counties – and students work directly with our team, getting real feedback and experiencing the full cycle of a professional design project.
What Makes This Opportunity Rock?
Students Get Real Client Experience
Your students work with an actual creative brief, learn client communication, and navigate the exciting (and sometimes challenging!) world of commercial art. It's a portfolio-building experience they can't get in a classroom alone.
It’s Full of Cross-Creative Inspiration
The program kicks off with a field trip to School of Rock, where your students experience live band rehearsals, meet music students their age, and soak in the creative energy that drives our performance programs. This hands-on experience adds depth to their design process and understanding of the music scene.
Plus, They’ll See Their Art Make A Community Impact
Selected designs are professionally printed and displayed at popular local venues – from The Fuge and Puck in Doylestown to Cooper's Riverview and Trenton Thunder Baseball Park in the Princeton area. Students see their work promoting real shows at community events like Pennington Day, Doylestown Arts Festival, and Communiversity ArtsFest.
Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
This collaboration bridges the gap between classroom learning and professional practice. Students gain various skills and experience that translate into valuable career preparation, whether they pursue commercial art, graphic design, or other creative fields.
Combining client interaction, creative problem-solving, and seeing their work impact the community gives students a unique perspective on potential career paths in the arts.
- Experience working with real clients and deadlines
- Understanding of marketing and event promotion
- Portfolio pieces with published, real-world impact
- Networking opportunities within the local arts community
- Cross-disciplinary creative experience
Plus, it's completely flexible! We work with your curriculum schedule and can tailor the program to meet your classroom's specific needs and learning objectives.
