Rock 101 music program in Henderson for kids and beginners
Rock 101
Ages 8-13

Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Green Valley's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Green Valley have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.

The Path to Take the Stage

Our music programs for kids in Henderson are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Green Valley who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 8 to 13-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

The Performance Program at School of Rock Green Valley is our hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. It consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, refining the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, School of Rock Green Valley Performance Program students take the stage and play at local Henderson music venues in front of a live audience.

The Path to Take the Stage

School of Rock Green Valley's music programs for kids and teens are designed to inspire by getting students on stage and performing. All of our other music education programs focus on readying students for our famous Performance Program. This is where students develop incredible musical skills. Performance Program students have often gone through our Rock 101 program first or have some previous basic music experience. These young musicians will have custom development plans outlined by their instructors with key concepts reinforced during private lessons and group rehearsals, all with the goal of performing live at a Henderson music venue.

Ages 6-7

At School of Rock Green Valley, our music program for children with no previous musical experience (typically ages 6 to 7-years-old) is called Rookies. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they can later decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101.

The Path to Take the Stage

All of our music programs are designed to inspire students to learn and develop a strong musical proficiency. At School of Rock Green Valley, younger students who are not ready for a more comprehensive program like Rock 101 can start in Rookies. Additionally, students who have completed the Little Wing program will progress into the Rookies music program. No prior musical experience is needed for Rookies. Once your child is ready for private music lessons (typically older than first or second graders), they will graduate into our Rock 101 program.

At School of Rock Green Valley our Little Wing music program for preschoolers and toddlers teaches students foundational music skills by playing games and participating in other interactive musical activities. Little Wing students have one weekly group music lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody and dynamics through play.

The Path to Take the Stage

The Little Wing music program is the first step in a young musician's journey. At School of Rock Green Valley, toddlers and preschoolers who show an interest in music should start with Little Wing. As they get older, they will progress into the Rookies program, followed by Rock 101 and the Performance Program.

Adult Program
Ages 18+

School of Rock Green Valley's Adult Program is for students over 18 years old who are looking to either improve their musical proficiency or pick up an instrument with no prior musical experience. As with most School of Rock music programs, the Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Music Program includes one weekly private music lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student at School of Rock Green Valley is placed in a band of fellow adults and then assigned specific songs as a way of learning key music concepts and skills. Adult students then take the stage to play at a live show in Henderson.

The School of Rock Green Valley Adult Program is open to all experience levels and each student will follow a customized learning plan developed by their instructor. Adult students will work together during rehearsal to prepare for a live performance at a real rock venue in Henderson.

The School of Rock Green Valley House Band music program gives students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to audition for a spot in School of Rock Green Valley's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock community and perform live shows at NV rock venues throughout the year.

The Path to Take the Stage

Performance is the core of School of Rock's educational approach. Therefore, we create additional opportunities for students to perform on stages throughout Henderson and the rest of NV. The House Band music program allows each school's most talented students the opportunity to join a band and play routinely in front of live audiences. Once a member, students will gain real music experience associated with gigging musicians and will become leaders and mentors inside the School of Rock community.

Age 17 and Under

The School of Rock AllStars Tour takes the very best students from around the world and sends them on a nationwide summer tour across the United States. Less than 1% of School of Rock students are selected each year to represent School of Rock as an AllStar. All Performance Program students are eligible to audition for this prestigious program. The intensive audition process starts off with video submissions followed by live auditions. Once selected, AllStar students will have an authentic touring experience including traveling on a tour bus, doing tour publicity and starring in nightly performances at famous venues and festivals during a two-week tour.

Becoming an AllStar is the highest level of achievement for a School of Rock student. They play on legendary stages large and small, including The Knitting Factory, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Troubadour and Lollapalooza. AllStar students often go on to have accomplished careers in the music industry. Former AllStars have gone on to become touring artists, star in Broadway musicals, get signed to record deals, become finalists on talent competitions like "The Voice" and "American Idol" and have other notable roles in the music industry.

At School of Rock we teach differently than other music schools in Henderson. Our curriculum is performance-based, meaning that we prepare students to perform. Our piano lessons for beginners combine weekly private instruction with weekly band rehearsals. Regional Manager
At the original School of Rock in Philadelphia, Teddi was one of the first-ever students and All Stars. She has taught voice and directed countless shows, as well as ran the All Stars program for a time and developed some of the curriculum at the core of the School of Rock program. Outside of that, Teddi has studied music both in the states and abroad. She has had the pleasure of working with such famed opera teachers as Enza Ferrari and Bruno Rigacci, and attended Temple University for Jazz Vocal Performance. At the tender age of 11, Teddi began studying classical violin at The Curtis Institute. Teddi was in two all-female tribute bands, Misstallica and Queen Diamond, and performs original music with her band Mother Mercury. She has performed all over the world with some serious musicians including Jon Anderson (Yes), Alice Cooper, Marky Ramone (The Ramones), Miriam Linna (The Cramps), Ike Willis (Frank Zappa), Napolean Murphy Brock (Frank Zappa, George Duke Band), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Dethklok), Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth) and Stuart Copeland (The Police).

Erik has been playing the guitar for the past 20 years. During that time, he has played in countless bands and has been involved in many rewarding musical endeavors. Erik attended San Francisco State University where he received his B.M. in Theory and Composition. While in college, he focused heavily on performing jazz and metal on the guitar, while also teaching music at a local K-8 private school in Northern California. After moving back down to Southern California, Erik joined a heavy rap metal band named 3rd Strike and was signed by Hollywood Records in 2001. While in 3rd Strike, he was fortunate enough to be on the Vans Warped Tour in 2001-2002 and also played Ozzfest. Other credits include heavy video play on MTV 2, a tour of the USA and Europe, music in "Ultimate X: The Movie," and a song on the "Tomb Raider 2" soundtrack. After leaving 3rd Strike, Erik was involved in several other projects in Los Angeles and has worked with producers such as Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Korn), Mudrock (Godsmack), Bob Marlette (Seether), and Chris Lord-Alge.

She has a love for music and has seen firsthand the impact it has on people of all ages. She is a Las Vegas native and is excited to give back to the community by getting people exceptional instruction at School of Rock Green Valley.

Assistant Music Director
Jim found his first love at around the age of 12 or 13 and has been playing the guitar ever since. He worked his way through college teaching lessons, as well as performing classical guitar at weddings and other special events. Jim earned his Bachelor of Music in Education from Roosevelt University in his hometown of Chicago. Jim has over 25 years of experience in teaching which includes general music, private lessons, and group classes on several instruments.

As a performer, Jim played guitar and bass in a few rock bands during his college days. He has also been a part of worship teams at various churches for nearly 30 years. Currently, Jim uses his talents as part of the praise team at his church in downtown Las Vegas. He also plays guitar and sings in a local rock cover band. In June 2021, Jim began his career at School of Rock in Las Vegas as a guitar and bass instructor. Since then, Jim has worked at both the Las Vegas and Green Valley locations as an Instructor, Rock 101 Director, and Show Director. Jim loves working with so many talented teachers and students who also share a deep passion for music.

Meet Sasha, a born-and-bred Las Vegan with a heart that beats to the rhythm of rock music. Over the years, she has developed a keen eye for organization and efficiency and strives for administrative excellence. Outside the office, Sasha's true passion lies in the power chords and anthemic melodies of rock music. Whether she's attending live concerts at iconic venues like the House of Blues or rocking out to her favorite tunes in the comfort of her own home, music is an integral part of her life.

With her combination of organizational prowess and rock-infused spirit, Sasha brings a unique flair to the world of administrative work, ensuring that every task is executed with precision and every day is infused with a little bit of rock 'n' roll attitude.

Throughout Sawyer's career, he has written and produced many songs, scored for film, mixed multiple artists, and performed relentlessly. In 2012 he received his acceptance letter to Berklee College of Music and within four years earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Contemporary Writing and Production.

After earning his degree, Sawyer has worked as an audio production mentor for YOUmedia, produced contemporary jingles for ReelWorld, worked for the world’s largest live audio company, Clair Global, and now he resides with us at School of Rock Green Valley as a guitar teacher, bass guitar teacher, and assistant music director. The pursuit of knowledge and the necessity to be creative motivates him.

Eddie Two Moons has over 40 years in the music industry, playing jazz, classical and popular music. He’s toured with bands Element 67, Redbone, and El Caliente and worked in duo and tribute bands. Eddies main instruments are 5 String Sukopop Retro-Firebird Bass, Rosco Fretless Sanctuary 5 string, and Seroma ¾ size double bass with Siefort bow.

Dylan is a multi-instrumental composer born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. While still in high school, he performed at world-renowned venues like the Whisky a Go Go, the Knitting Factory, Ventura Theater, and the Rainbow Room with various rock cover bands and jazz trios. After high school, Dylan went on to attend Berklee College Music, where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in film scoring. Since then,​ he has taught guitar, bass, and keyboards to over 150 students both privately and at various academies, of all ages and skill levels.

Dylan is well-schooled in all styles of music, including jazz, classical, R&B, and fusion, and also teaches songwriting, composition, and production as well. In addition, he is a multi-faceted composer who has worked extensively in film and television for years, having served as a composer for numerous feature-length and short films, and television shows, as well as orchestrated, produced, and arranged several projects for top-tier composers and musicians, including Shawn K.​ Clement (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dawson’s Creek), NicTenbroek (Survivor,​ The Wire, Treme), and Jude Christodal (Lost, The Kardashians, etc.). Dylan has dedicated his life to music education, and his mission is to inspire his students to bring out the best in themselves and others.​

Mark (he/they) has been playing drums for over 20 years. Being a drummer is their whole world and they love every second of it! Mark learned to play drums from an accomplished family friend who Mark still considers to be the best drummer he's ever seen.

Mark has experience teaching private lessons and has also spent time touring throughout the United States with acts including Jacob Latimore and Leroy Sanchez. Mark has been managed by John Oliva, former frontman of Savatage and co-founder of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He has spent time recording at big-name studios like Big Blue Meenie in Jersey City, NJ, and Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida.

Mark calls the Henderson area home now and is excited to share their passion for music within the drum department at School of Rock Green Valley.

Tom is a multi-instrumentalist and Las Vegas transplant. Formerly from the East Coast, Tom started playing guitar at the age of seven years old. Quickly began learning by ear and jumped into lessons about a year and a half later. At the local New Jersey music school, Tom would soon begin to also play bass, drums, sing and form a more conscious understanding of songwriting which led him to do so at just 11 years old. Starting his first band with some friends from school, Tom’s love for music became an obsession and now a full-time career. He’s an active member and producer in 18th & Addison (Pop-Rock/Punk) with his wife, Kait, and the lead singer/producer in Black Mansions (Dark-Wave, Synth Pop), a professional recording artist, songwriter, and producer for/with lesser known artists as well as the likes of Fred Mascherino of Taking Back Sunday, Matt Squire (Producer/Songwriter for Ariana Grande, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy) and Ace Frehley from the band KISS with whom he’s landed multiple Billboard Chart placements from 2019-2020. Amid all of this, Tom started teaching lessons independently in between tours back in 2013 and has now taken on even more in recent years with School of Rock to help create awareness and education of music, the performance of live music, and entertainment. All are grounded in real-life experiences for young and motivated musicians like himself.

Matthew is a guitar teacher and keyboard + piano teacher at School of Rock Green Valley in Nevada. They studied Music Theory and Composition and obtained a bachelor's degree from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Matthew previously taught at School of Rock in New York and has also taught in Los Angeles. Their knowledge of theory has also allowed them to expand beyond guitar as a performer. They have performed as a guitarist, pianist, and vocalist with various bands, ensembles, and choirs all over the country including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and California.

Matthew's experience on stage and in the lesson room is at the forefront of bringing the School of Rock method of performance-based music education to the students they work with.

Kat is a professional singer and songwriter best known in the publishing world for her music contributions to film, television, and advertisements. A singer since childhood, Kat studied guitar and recording sound at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.

Kat has been a recording artist since the age of 20 and navigated her way through Hollywood co-writing music, performing in bands, and making connections with music supervisors and A&Rs who helped hone her vocal and writing talents for the music licensing world. She is looking forward to bringing all she knows to the vocal students and musical community at School of Rock Green Valley.

Dina has been performing in Las Vegas for over two decades. In addition to holding two master's degrees in Education, she began her music career as an advanced flute player from Ohio. During her time in Las Vegas, Dina has performed at House of Blues, M Casino, Central Christian Church, and many local bars.

Dina is trained in most genres of music including country, pop, rock, reggae, and blues with influences ranging from Pat Benatar, Pink, Lzzy Hale, and many more. Las Vegas has been a great place to run karaoke shows including the Mirage and The Plaza. Currently, Dina is an Elementary Music teacher with CCSD teaching children the love and joy of music! She is excited to join School of Rock Las Vegas West and Green Valley as a singing teacher and also a Little Wing and Rookies instructor.

Lenny received his Bachelor of Music from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, where he is a faculty member. He studied contemporary guitar performance and learned styles such as blues, funk, and R&B at MI but his main focus has always been rock and he also loves to play punk and metal.

Lenny has five full-length albums to his credit with original bands and has also contributed as a studio guitarist on many projects. Lenny has toured internationally and in the U.S. and was also featured as the guitarist in the movie “Get Him To The Greek” starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill. He has shared the stage with many great musicians such as Ray Luzier (Korn), Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses), and Richie Ramone (Ramones), among others, and also opened for bands such as Drowning Pool and L.A. Guns.

Lenny loves teaching and inspiring players and loves to perform live. Other than his original band, Elegantly Wasted, he also plays in the ABBA tribute band ABBA L.A. and the punk rock cover band DTH.

Chris's musical education includes seven years of personal guitar instruction and three years playing in his high school jazz band. Chris is a graduate of the Musician's Institute, whose curriculum includes group and private classes plus live performances with staff including world-class musicians such as Scott Henderson, Keith Wyatt, Steve Trovato, Frank Gambale, Paul Gilbert, Jennifer Batten, Tim Bogart, Jeff Berlin and Ralph Humphries.

Chris has an impressive 25+ years of live performance throughout North America as a member of many original and cover bands including Keli Raven, Pearls For Swine, Wormhole, Webster’s Unabridged Jazz Band, Nuthin’ Fancy (a tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd) and The Who Show (a tribute to The Who). Finally, his resume includes over 15 years of private instruction with a roster of 30+ students throughout the Southern California area. Chris is a guitar teacher and Show Director at School of Rock Green Valley and School of Rock Las Vegas West.

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Alena is a singer-songwriter whose musical journey began at a young age. Alena has always been drawn to the stage, actively participating in her school’s theatre program, choir, and local theatre productions, where her passion for performing and music was nurtured. Alena briefly studied Performing Arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and continues her musical studies through Berklee Online.

Outside of teaching, Alena has graced the iconic Ferguson’s Downtown Stage and performed at numerous intimate restaurants and cafes. With a deep love for music and performance, she is excited to nurture and encourage emerging musicians to find their sound at the School of Rock in Las Vegas West & School of Rock Green Valley.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, pots and pans were all Fernando had until he began learning drumset at age seven by means of a church his parents started attending. His love for playing music would soon be complemented by his love for teaching it. Middle School band is where Fernando's outstanding music teacher provided an educational experience that would plant the seed for him to be the educator he is now. He continued with music in high school and kept himself out of trouble through it, winning a City Championship with the marching band in their division his senior year. Fernando finally acquired his very own drum set after high school and practiced it religiously. When away from a drumset in prior years, he kept his musical brain busy by picking up and loving the guitar.

After high school Fernando played in rock and funk bands and worked a few retail jobs while pacing himself with college classes. He would eventually transfer to CSU Los Angeles where he attained a BM in Music Education, followed by a state teaching credential for Music. After teaching music and coaching marching bands within the Los Angeles Unified School District for twelve years, Fernando made the move to Las Vegas in 2024 to further pursue a career in performing music in a new environment while still providing children and young adults the opportunity to excel on their instrument of choice. Fernando is looking forward to bringing his vast teaching experience to the School of Rock Green Valley community.

Matthew has been a lifelong musician with a classical foundation but rock and metal have been his true passion ever since he picked up the guitar at age 11. He was a piano major at the Las Vegas Academy of The Arts and is pursuing General Education at CSN.

Matthew performs with his family fiddle band and is driven and given life by neoclassical power metal as well as nearly all other metal sub-genres. Matthew joins our regional team working at both our Las Vegas West and Green Valley locations as a guitar and keyboard + piano teacher.

Chandler is a freelance percussionist based in Las Vegas, NV. Originally from Holland, MI, Chandler earned his undergraduate degree at Morehead State University under Dr. Brian Mason, Dr. Ben Cantrell, and Dr. Josh Smith. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in percussion performance at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas under Dr. Dean Gronemeier, Dr. Alex Stopa, and Dr. Kyle Bissantz.

Chandler had previously taught percussionists in all grade levels at Magoffin County Public Schools along with directing the Percussion Ensemble program. As a performer, Chandler has had experience in many ensembles across the Midwest and Southern United States. He has performed in the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, UNLV Wind Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, and many more. Chandler also loves to bring his version of Percussive Storytelling to elementary schools across the nation and is excited to share his passions as a drum teacher for the School of Rock Green Valley students!

Mike Benigno is a seasoned professional drummer, music teacher, and songwriter with over three decades of experience in the music industry. His musical journey began with private lessons at the prestigious Long Island Drum Center in Long Island, New York. By the early 1990s, after completing high school, Mike transitioned into teaching drums and eventually expanded to guitar instruction, working with students at Amazing Music in Pacific Palisades, California.

As a professional musician, Mike has recorded with notable artists such as Pink, Ric Ocasek (The Cars), and John Popper (Blues Traveler), and has also contributed as a songwriter for Kelly Osbourne. His original song, "On Your Own," was featured in Season 4, Episode 10 of the hit TV show Californication. Throughout his career, Mike has toured as an opening act for renowned artists including Billy Idol, Blues Traveler, Neil Young, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. In Las Vegas, he has performed in high-profile productions like Rock of Ages, MJ Live, and The Bronx Wanderers. Mike is excited to bring his passion for music to the drum students at the School of Rock in Green Valley!

Katey was born in a small town in California, where her musical journey began with singing and performing. At 12 years old, she moved to Las Vegas, where she continued to hone her vocal skills through lessons and school education. Moving to Nevada provided her with more opportunities than her small hometown, allowing her to delve into musical theater performance.

Over time, Katey expanded her talents to teaching vocals, dance, and acting. She has been dedicated to teaching for the past several years and is looking forward to sharing her passion and expertise with her students at School of Rock Green Valley and School of Rock Las Vegas West!
