Frank Zummo, drummer from the alternative rock band Sum 41 and co-founder of Street Drum Corps, announced his Zummo x School of Rock Cali Grind Workshop Tour back in February planning to tour across California for seven days hosting workshops for students of School of Rock.
In June of 2021, Zummo met with School of Rock students across the southwest US during an exclusive workshop tour. Sponsored by Laird Superfood, the Frank Zummo x School of Rock Workshop Tour led Zummo and his team to five School of Rock locations in Arizona, California and Nevada.
Back for round 2, Zummo stopped by 8 School of Rock locations in California (Tustin, Woodland Hills, Fairfax, Rancho Santa Margarita, Temecula, Oceanside, Scripps Ranch & Encinitas) last month for the Zummo x School of Rock Cali Grind Workshop Tour sponsored by Laird Superfood and Vans. He performed a set, hosted an open-forum style discussion with Q&A and jammed out with School of Rock students to Sum41 staples like Fat Lip, In Too Deep and Hell Song. As an added bonus, Adrian Young, drummer and member of the rock band No Doubt, made a guest appearance at School of Rock Rancho Santa Margarita.
Zummo has been a long supporter of School of Rock's mission to enrich the lives of students through performance-based music education and this workshop, in its second year, demonstrates his commitment to inspire and motivate School of Rock students to be the best person and musician they can be. “When I started doing workshops a couple years ago and we started including School of Rock, I was just blown away by what they’re doing here," says Zummo.
