General Manager Shannon
Shannon
General Manager
Shannon was born into a rock n' roll family. Both of her parents were in a band together, Mid City Rock, where her mom was the lead singer and her dad was the lead guitarist. Needless to say, rock n' roll is in her blood. At a young age she developed her love for Aerosmith and Heart, which are still two of her favorite bands.

A born entertainer, Shannon discovered her passion for dance when she was just a tot. Although her parents would've loved for her to pick up an instrument, they realized that dancing was her way of expression and let her pursue it. She attempted to learn guitar but it just did not compute in her brain so she stuck with movement though never walked away from rock n' roll.

When she was 16 years old, she got her first job in sales. This was something that came very easily to her and in a few years, Shannon stepped into a management role. After 15 years with that company, they decided to sell the business and Shannon came to School of Rock. She was the General Manager at School of Rock Rockwall for the last three years and is excited to be back in McKinney!

After he graduated high school, Michael enrolled in the Collin College Audio Engineering Program. While there, he played in the school's rock ensemble and recording ensemble. The past three years have been devoted to studio drumming. Michael has recorded drums for many bands and artists while finishing his studies at Collin and is preparing to enroll in Berklee College of Music's online program.
Studio Coordinator Emily
Emily
Studio Coordinator
Emily Bruno, a native East Texan, spent the majority of her childhood in both California and Indiana before returning to her home state at the age of 11. Growing up, Emily could often be found pretending she was Faith Hill singing into her hairbrush, learning sportsmanship and self-discipline with her competitive cheer squad, or hidden under her blankets way past her bedtime with her nose stuck in a book.

Not one to shy away from adventures, Emily has always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie (she has her dad to thank for that). From skateboarding down hills too steep to cliff diving in places of questionable legality to riding ALL of the rollercoasters possible (even when she didn’t meet the height requirement - again, thanks to her dad), Emily doesn’t bat an eye. Stemming from her love for her family she has grown into a bit of a family detective and has quite an interest in genealogy. The hobby developed from the curious nature she gets from her mom and the history nerdiness from her dad. Give Emily a couple of names and dates, and she’ll have your family tree mapped out to the beginning of time with little history trivia to go along. She may even uncover a secret, or two.

Professional road-tripper, avid concertgoer, adrenaline junkie, history nerd, self-proclaimed polyglot in the making; the many faces of Emily Bruno.

Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher Jorge Gonzalez
Jorge
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Jorge started playing the guitar years ago when a friend taught him the intro of a song. Jorge decided to buy an electric guitar, started learning more on his own, and joined a music school a few months later.

He played there for three years and decided to study music with some guitar clinics he bought. Although his inspiration was rock and metal music, he wanted to learn more and started learning Flamenco. Once in college, Jorge started playing with a student jazz ensemble and string ensemble. He then became a teacher there and started a Rumba Flamenca ensemble. He gigged in museums and art expositions with the ensemble.

Jorge took some masterclasses with Flamenco guitarist Antonio Rey and classic guitarist Juan Manuel Cañizares, plus some online masterclasses with composer Hans Zimmer. While music had always been a hobby, Jorge decided to suspend his university studies and started to follow what he was most passionate about.

In 2019 he got a YAMAHA Dante certification and start studying musical production. He has been teaching music for nearly a decade and can play in different styles such as rock, metal, bossa nova, classical, flamenco, jazz, Latin music, funk, and still learning more styles and instruments.

“The best part to be a musician is to share the passion, and there is always something new to learn every day.”

For five years, Carlos has been focused on becoming the best he can be through practice, long studio sessions, and non-stop shows. Jayden started his musical journey around the age of 10 when he became a student at the School of Rock in McKinney, TX in 2013. However, music has been his passion ever since he was little. Jayden got into music because of bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin thanks to his mom and dad. He started out singing and taking lessons but eventually learned guitar and bass. He progressed at School of Rock, beginning with the Rock 101 program, then transitioning into the Performance program, and progressing into successfully auditioning for the House Band.

Right now, his passion resides in teaching the beauty of music to others, and always continuing to have the drive to create what he loves.

Drum Teacher Glenn
Glenn
Drum Teacher
Glenn started playing drums when he was 9 years old after seeing a performance at his elementary school talent show. A student played a blue drum set along to a KISS song and he was hooked. Glenn played on everything that he could get a tone out of with a pair of sticks his dad made for him out of wooden dowels.

After a few years of books, pots, and pans, Glenn got his first real drums at the age of 14. He started playing along to every song on the radio, learning all he could about every style of music he listened to. After playing house parties with different garage bands he and his friends put together, Glenn got a call from a real working band in the club scene. They spent the next couple of years playing every club and venue in north Texas and southern Oklahoma that would let them play. Eventually, that led to Glenn’s first tour with a “road” band.

After touring the Midwest for a while he got an audition with Vince Vance and the Valiants. They toured most of the southeastern U.S. After leaving the Valiants, Glenn freelanced with many artists, including two-time Grammy nominee and CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Janie Fricke, finally getting a gig with former Head East lead guitarist and solo recording artist Ricky Lynn Gregg. Glenn is currently the touring drummer for Texas recording artist Tom McKelvain and the Dirty Pesos.
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher Alan
Alan
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Alan’s musical journey began in middle school as a percussionist. After receiving a drum set for Christmas, he subsequently lost interest. Alan picked up the electric guitar in high school after a sports injury and immediately became obsessed. He spent many, many hours practicing before, during, and after school, developing his self-taught skills, and realized he was born to rock. Soon after high school, he began playing shows with friends at a local club and eventually, he formed a band covering '80s hard rock and Spanish rock music for some years.

After parting ways with the cover band and his consistent pursuit of rock n’ roll, Alan cultivated a reputation as an East Texas musician and soon after formed an original hard rock band where they performed original music and toured throughout the state and eventually out to California. That band would later split ways and Alan went on to play gigs for different bands of different genres as a hired musician. Years later he teamed up with local musicians and joined an original band where they would consistently tour and go on to record a debut album and music videos. Alan decided to take a long break from music after he parted ways with that band when he moved to Dallas to be closer to his son.

During his time as an active musician, Alan was also instructing at the Tyler Music Academy and a local arts studio. Some of his other accomplishments have been winning the International YouTube Eddie Van Halen/George Lynch Guitar Solo Contest in 2016 and being runner-up the following year. He ended as a finalist in the 2015 Demon Rock Off in San Jose, CA. He was invited by Take2 Classic Rock Band to perform the 2017 “Take Me 2 Vienna” Rock Orchestra concert with the East Texas Youth Orchestra.

Alan has been a kickboxing fitness instructor for the past few years and finally decided to align himself back with his innate passion. He has gotten back into playing music and has been enjoying instructing students at the School of Rock in North Dallas, inspiring and teaching the future generation of rock n’ roll musicians.
Guitar Teacher, Vocal Teacher Joey
Joey
Guitar Teacher, Vocal Teacher
Joey is a musician and teacher with a B.S. degree from the University of North Texas. He currently interns at a recording studio and plays at jams and open mics around the DFW area. His favorite artists include Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Robert Johnson, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay-Z.

Joey discovered his passion for music in middle school, when he started taking saxophone lessons, and was introduced to hip-hop and dubstep. He had some knowledge of rock and roll through his dad's iPod and the video game, Rock Band, but his first musical obsession was hip-hop. Artists like Eminem, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne started an obsession that would drive most of his music consumption and creation until college.

Joey began learning how to play guitar through YouTube in 2019. He was influenced by Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance; Kurt Cobain and that performance was the reason Joey began playing guitar. From there influences began to include other relevant '90s alternative rock bands like Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, Pearl Jam, etc. Joey looked into other members of the mysterious 27 Club, Jimi Hendrix, and Robert Johnson, and found that their music also captured something timeless and inexplicable. Joey began exploring the history of rock and roll, received several years of vocal lessons, and traveled to learn music theory as well as foundational piano and drums.
