South Arts has announced the upcoming cycle of applications Jazz Road Tours, a grant program that supports approximately 50 jazz artists annually with individual grants up to $15,000 to help tour their practices around the nation. Applications are open now and will close on Oct. 15, 2025.

A host of local musicians and touring acts will have shows in New Orleans this fall. Here's a preview of some of those concerts to look out for.

The sixth annual Bluesberry Music + Art Festival will take place Oct. 4 in Covington with a stellar lineup of regional and national talent. Headlining this full-day celebration of blues music and the arts is Texas blues-rock singer/songwriter and guitarist Casey James. Other featured performers include Jared Daws, JJ Muggler, Julian Primeaux, and New Orleans blues band Kevin & The Blues Groovers. The festival will also showcase local and regional musicians on its Pavilion Stage.

Most everyone we know has lost someone or been affected in some way by this disastrous event.

For decades, people have been using the unique sound of rock music to explore questions of who we are, to wrestle with the intersections of identity, and to express ourselves. Over the course of the twentieth century, expressions of queerness were criminalized and marginalized, often making queer music one of the only safe places to voice these feelings. Queer themes in rock music can be found in songs by the LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies alike.
