FAQ

What makes School of Rock Princeton different from traditional music lessons?

Unlike traditional music lessons that focus solely on one-on-one instruction, School of Rock Princeton is the best of both worlds: weekly private lessons with group rehearsals where students learn to play in a band setting and the chance to perform live. Our School of Rock Method™ is performance-based, allowing students to learn by playing real songs and performing live at local venues in Lawrence Township and surrounding areas.

What age groups does School of Rock Princeton serve?

We offer programs for virtually all ages and stages of musical experience:

Little Wing: Ages 4-5
Rookies: Ages 6-7
Rock 101: Ages 8-12
Opening Act: Ages 13-18
Performance Program: Ages 8-18
Adult Performance Program: Ages 18+
House Band & AllStars: Audition-based programs for advanced students

Is School of Rock Princeton good for beginners?

You bet! We welcome musicians of all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. We design our programs to meet students where they are and help them progress at their own pace. Programs like Little Wing, Rookies, Rock 101 and Opening Act are specifically designed for beginners.

Do I need to own an instrument before starting lessons?

While we recommend having an instrument at home for practice, it's not required for lessons! School of Rock Princeton provides instruments during in-school sessions and rehearsals. When you're ready to purchase your own instrument, our staff can offer recommendations, and you can even purchase instruments through our GearSelect program.

How much do lessons cost at School of Rock Princeton?

Program costs vary based on the specific program and promotional offers. Please contact us at (609) 890-7090 for current pricing. Unlike typical hourly music lessons, our programs include weekly private lessons, group rehearsals, and live performances in local venues.

Do you offer trial lessons?

We offer free trial lessons so you can experience our teaching method firsthand before committing to a program. During the trial, students get to meet our instructors, try out instruments, and get a feel for our approach.

Can I switch instruments after starting lessons?

Students can switch instruments if they discover a different instrument that better suits their interests. Our instructors will work with them to transition and develop skills on their new instrument.

How often do School of Rock Princeton students perform?

Rock 101 and Opening Act students usually have 2-3 performances per year. Special events, additional programs and camps often culminate with performances as well.

What music genres do you teach?
