The Performance Program is School of Rock's hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.

METALLICA
AGES 13-18 | MONDAYS, 5:15P-7:15P
Often regarded as the most popular and influential metal band, Metallica got their start in the 1980s pioneering a fresh new brand of metal dubbed “thrash metal”. The bands niche sound then evolved and went on to reach audiences all over the world, ushering in a new generation of metal and hard rock. There is no shortage of fast riffs and grooves here, and the vocals demand aggression and conviction. This show will feature hits such as For Whom The Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman, and Master of Puppets.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
AGES 13-18 | TUESDAYS, 5:15P-7:15P
Red Hot Chilli peppers are an American rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1983. Their music incorporates elements of many seemingly incompatible genres, but the result is a sound that’s impossible to confuse with any other artist. The band consists of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, Guitarist John Frusciante, Bassist Flea, and drummer Chad Smith (whom is a carbon copy of Will Ferrell, look it up if you don’t believe us). Red Hot Chilli Peppers are one of the best selling bands of all time, and their music has gone on to inspire many other genres such as funk metal, rap metal and rap rock. Listen to: “Give It Away”, “Otherside”, “Scar Tissue”, and “Dani California”.
PARAMORE
AGES 13-18 | WEDNESDAYS, 5:15P-7:15P
Paramore, currently consisting of vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro, is an alternative rock band formed in 2004. After getting their start in the punk rock circle, playing Warped Tour, and making the rounds on Myspace, their quirky style and sound began to infect the underground scene. The band struck major commercial success however in 2013 with the release of their self titled album, and have since become a household name. Their musical catalog ranges from hard hitting rock anthems, to experimental new wave inspired pop rock. Either way be prepared for soaring personality infused vocals, creative (surprisingly tricky) drum grooves, and guitar parts that will get the whole room moving. Listen to “Misery Business”, “Aint It Fun”, crushcrushcrush”, and “Decode”

ARCTIC MONKEYS VS. THE KILLERS
AGES 13-18 | SATURDAYS, 12:30P-2:30P
Though the Arctic Monkeys hail from Britain, and The Killers were formed in the States, both bands have had a similar impact on the indie rock scene since their inception in the early-mid 2000’s. Their sophisticated strand of greased up rock has taken the world by storm, and as it stands now both bands are regarded as 2 of the biggest bands of the 21st Century. Between The Arctic Monkeys intentional dark guitar riffing, and The Killers synth driven rock anthems, this show will have plenty to satisfy players of all instruments and levels. Listen to “R U Mine?”, “Arabella“, “Somebody Told Me”, and “When You Were Young”
*NEW* adult program - best of the 80's
ages 18+ | mondays, 7:30p-9:30p at school of rock syosset/oyster bay
On paper, the 1980's sounds like a really weird period for music, since it's often characterized by both the rise in popularity of using the synthesizer in recordings, and the increased use of distortion and the abuse of whammy bars. This decade brought us the rise of dance music, new wave, soft rock, glam metal, thrash metal and shred guitar. This show promises to be a lot of fun, with exposure to different styles of music.
Listen to: Guns 'n Roses, The Police, Tears for Fears, Survivor, Cyndi Lauper, Prince, Madonna, Pat Benatar, Europe, The Bangles, DEVO, The Cars, etc.
Rehearsals for our Adult Program/Grad School take place at SCHOOL OF ROCK SYOSSET/OYSTER BAY, 180 Michael Drive, Syosset. While the rehearsal takes place at Syosset, you are welcome to take lessons at our Huntington, Rockville Centre, Roslyn or Syosset/Oyster Bay locations!
