Drum Teacher Yacine Ofoe
Yacine Ofoe
Drum Teacher
Yacine has been playing drums since he was eight. He realized he wanted to play the drums after seeing his uncle play in his punk rock band. At the time he was taking piano lessons and was not very interested in it. He then asked his parents if he could quit the piano to play drums. They were hesitant at first but they finally gave in and Yacine loved it so much, which made him learn it so quickly that his drum teacher told him there was nothing left to teach him after only three years. He started his first band when he was 11 years old and they played Misfits songs every weekend at house shows. After that band ended he went on to keep playing drums alone with his headphones while listening to his favorite albums. This taught him multiple new playing styles of drums by playing along with punk, screamo, and alternative rock bands.

After high school, he started another band with his brother and best friends. They wrote melodic hardcore music for a few months and then started to play shows at venues. After their second show, they were asked to join a label. This label gave them an opportunity to grow as a young band. They were able to record an album and go on tour playing shows all over California. He has also been playing the drums for 18 years and he is very excited to start teaching drums at School of Rock in Elk Grove.

Immersing himself in the diverse music cultures of East Asia, South America, and North America has profoundly shaped Stevie's eclectic style and reinforced his commitment to sharing music with the world. His musical journey reached a milestone with the release of his debut album, "Rebirth of Soul," in 2010, solidifying his lifelong dedication to music.

General Manager Matt Stone
Matt Stone

Ever since he bounced his knee to musical inspirations such as Metallica, Van Halen, and Phil Collins, Matt knew music would be part of his life. As a kid when he made a drum set out of buckets, barrels, and metal dustpans, he knew percussion was the way to go. With inspiration from his dad, who was a drummer as a kid too, Matt started his musical journey in elementary school as a trumpet player. Although he made first chair, his passion for drums eventually won out. He began playing drums in the beginning band at Joseph Kerr Middle School under the leadership of Dave Winstead and Nancy Kreis. Learning quickly, Matt joined concert and jazz band, participating in ensembles that won awards at the prestigious Golden Empire competition. He continued musically into high school, joining a few bands, including a cover band playing Black Sabbath and Marylin Manson called Paranoid Delusions.

Matt graduated from Sheldon High School as a letterman in Visual and Performing Arts. Shortly after high school, he joined his church praise band as a drummer and vocalist, where he played for more than 15 years. In college, Matt joined the Chamber Singers, where he honed his vocal skills and sang a solo at the State Capital Rotunda. He also joined a local performance group called the Village Opera Theatre in which he had multiple principal roles, including the lead role in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado." Matt continues his musical talents to this day as drummer and vocalist for The Maple Tones, a local cover band playing for various businesses and events. Matt currently resides in Elk Grove with his high school sweetheart and wife, Jennifer. Some of his other musical inspirations include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Harry Connick Jr., Coldplay, and Garth Brooks. Matt hopes to continue playing and sharing music for as long as possible. He is the General Manager at School of Rock Elk Grove.

Jacob Eisberg Guitar Teacher
Jacob Eisberg
Guitar Teacher
Jacob Eisberg started playing the guitar when he was 15 during his freshman year of high school. Taking guitar classes as electives, he quickly came to realize that playing music should have been his main focus in life all along. He became co-president of his school's guitar club starting his junior year, and he subsequently decided to join the school jazz band. Jacob taught himself as much music theory as possible, going out of his way to find new techniques and styles to advance his playing. This desire to learn new styles carved him a path towards songwriting and composition, where he finds some of his greatest passions in life. Metal and Jazz were two genres he loved and hoped to blend in a way that hadn't been done before. He found his greatest influences on his musical style to be bands like Pink Floyd, Snarky Puppy, Yes, Periphery, and The Contortionist.

Jacob loves to share his interests in music, and he finds differences in individuals' taste to be a truly fascinating subject. "We do ourselves a great disservice in neglecting musical styles that exist outside of what we normally listen to. There are songs I couldn't stand listening to the first time I heard them, and have found many of those same pieces to become some of the most intriguing or moving songs I've ever heard. Pushing ourselves outside of these comfort zones not only increases our potential as musicians, but the strength of our characters as well." Jacob hopes to share all he's learned from his instrument and musical career. He claims this sharing of knowledge to be a way to "pay forward the gift of finding a meaningful passion I received from the artists found in my life."

Enamored with the bombastic energy of punk rock from an early age, Ian started tapping along with Green Day’s “Dookie” and The Offspring's “Smash” by on whatever he could. Over time, the tapping snowballed into a practice pad and a pair of sticks, to lessons with an industry veteran, to the drum kit, and four years in the high school drum line.

Two decades later, that punk rock energy, ethos, and enthusiasm have influenced Ian's playing in a number of groups across genres, ranging from a little bit of time on the road with a hardcore band to the more introspective, indie rock feel of his current project - Vinnie Guidera & the Dead Birds.
Director of Early Education and Community Outreach, Singing Teacher Maddy Vine
Maddy Vine
Director of Early Education and Community Outreach, Vocal Teacher
Maddy is a vocal instructor and Performance Director across multiple School of Rock locations. During her undergraduate studies, she double majored in Environmental Studies and Music with a concentration in Voice. Maddy was introduced to a multitude of vocal new genres by participating in choir, jazz ensembles, and as a classical soloist.

Maddy fell in love with the Estill vocal method of training which focuses on the anatomy and physiology of the voice. This method has allowed her to have a free stylistic range with her voice and performances throughout her time in college. This method also allowed her to protect her voice and left her with a knowledge of how to isolate certain vocal mechanisms to produce any sound desired.

After graduation, Maddy was unsure of the next steps on her journey in life until she stumbled into School of Rock out of curiosity and found how gratifying it is to pass on the love of singing and making music for the world.

Taylor’s love for music and performance began at a young age. She grew up watching her dad play guitar and took inspiration from him. In elementary school, Taylor became involved in the school choir, recorder club, and drama club. She started teaching herself guitar when she was 13 and went on to take guitar classes in high school. Taylor started teaching herself drums at 14 years old and, at 15 years old, she was behind the kit when she joined her first band, Napalm Koopa.

From there Taylor became very involved in the local punk scene and continued to play in different bands including, but not limited to: Abandoned Generation, The Karloffs, and Kill the Cute. She had her first experience at a professional recording studio while with Abandoned Generation, which opened her eyes to an entirely different way of appreciating music. Her love for writing and playing music eventually led to her attending Pinnacle College where she obtained her AAS in Music Production Recording Arts.

After college, Taylor worked in music retail for 3 years and was a live audio engineer for 2.5 years. During this time she started taking vocal lessons as well. She stayed busy with music in all aspects of her life. When Covid hit and live music stopped, Taylor started pursuing acting and modeling. She now loves working at School of Rock where she can still be around music while continuing to work on her acting and modeling career.

Drum Teacher Alex Bosson
Alex Bosson
Drum Teacher
Alex Bosson knew from an early age that being a drummer was all he wanted to be in life. He started drumming at the age of 13, taking private lessons for about six months until branching out on his own and playing throughout high school and beyond in local death metal bands and touring around the western United States. When he was 21 years old, Alex had slipped discs in his spine which threatened to end his playing days. It was not a fate he was willing to accept and after multiple surgeries, other procedures, and lots of physical therapy over five years, Alex was finally well enough to get behind the kit again.

He formed the progressive metal project, Lunar, with his long-time friend, Ryan Erwin. Lunar is inspired by acts such as Opeth, Devin Townsend, and Tool, and they are working on their upcoming third full-length album. Alex is also the drummer of Helion Prime. In between playing with both bands, Alex teaches and performs in studio sessions.
