CONCERT TOURS & BACKSTAGE STORIES
Join Dave Fortune from Live Nation Touring in this exclusive workshop and hear behind-the-scenes stories of his incredible journey touring with some of the biggest names in music - most recently; Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter World Tour 2024, The Stadium Tour with Def Leppard & Motley Crue 22/23, The Who’s Strike Back Tour 2022, and Gorillaz’s Tour 2022. You’ll learn all about the magic behind putting together a concert and touring, and discover how each artist prepares, rehearses, and warms up before their performance. Dave will even open the floor for questions, so bring your questions and don’t be shy to ask anything you’ve always wanted to know about concerts and artists!
ABOUT DAVE
Dave Fortune with Live Nation Global Touring is a 30+ year veteran of the music and concert industry, producing shows around the world with some of the biggest bands. He began his career promoting shows in high school as a side project. His side project continued through university, along with stints in advertising and marketing, world touring with bands, and music management, until 1998 when he joined the newly formed production department at MCA Concerts in Vancouver. Twelve years, one office, and four business cards later, Dave was an executive in charge of oversight for 1800 shows produced annually by Live Nation Canada, producing the biggest concerts in the biggest venues including Ed Sheeran, U2, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Radiohead, and The Rolling Stones.
Following Dave’s Olympic experience in 2010 as a producer and venue manager, the time came for new challenges. Executive stints as head of touring and special events for Union Events and Huka Entertainment followed his time with Live Nation. Dave has also produced world class experiential events including roles with the Pemberton Music Festival, Tortuga Music Festival, JFL Northwest Comedy Festival, Sonic Boom, Edgefest and Riot Fest Toronto. Dave’s expertise extended to the realm of large sporting events, where he served as Entertainment Producer for large sporting events, including the NHL Heritage Classic in Edmonton & Calgary, NHL Winter Classic in Buffalo NY, and CFL Grey Cup Championship in Edmonton to Vancouver. Additionally, Dave played a pivotal role in creating legacy concert experiences including Deer Lake Concert Series, the Malkin Bowl Concert Series, and the PNE Amphitheatre Concert Series.
Dave has been integral to all operational elements of each business unit including venue negotiations, ticketing, strategic marketing development, sponsorship, venue operations, labour negotiations, risk management, budgeting, systems development, and special events.
