KISS rose to prominence in the 1970s with a string of hard rock hits and live shows that generated a thrilling visual experience, becoming one of the biggest-selling bands in rock history. While the blood spitting, fire breathing, and extreme marketing sometimes overshadowed the music, behind the face paint KISS were four talented musicians with a gift for writing great, catchy rock and roll songs. Many rock bands of today cite KISS as a main influence and inspiration to pursue the life of a touring musician. Beyond the visual spectacle, KISS is a band with a surprisingly diverse catalog that requires some serious musicianship. For guitarists, the KISS show will incorporate several approaches to rock soloing, as KISS had 5 different lead guitarists throughout their career. Gene Simmons’ bass playing will certainly challenge students' ability to play melodic riffs and simultaneously maintain groove. Drum students will love the many rocking drum breaks and big fills within KISS’ 50-year catalog of material. This is a show the whole family will have fun singing along to, featuring hits like “Rock and Roll All Nite”, “Beth”, and “Shout It Out Loud”.

Grace (1994) is Jeff Buckley’s only completed studio album, and it showcases his extraordinary vocal range, emotional depth, and eclectic musical taste. Blending rock, folk, blues, and classical influences, the album moves from soaring, ethereal tracks like “Grace” and “Last Goodbye” to intimate, haunting moments such as his now-iconic rendition of “Hallelujah.” Lyrically poetic and musically immersive, Grace has become a cult classic—celebrated for its raw vulnerability, lush arrangements, and the singular artistry Buckley left behind.

Punk Rock rose to popularity as a rebellious response to the self-indulgent, pretentious direction that Prog Rock had taken in the 1970s, and as a voice for the anti-establishment movement following the post-Vietnam era. Marked by short, energetic songs with little ornamentation, Punk Rock is more about spirit and feeling than musical technique. This show covers the classic period of the genre, including bands like Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, Blondie, The Stooges, and Patti Smith. Students might hear striking similarities of styles to current Pop Punk bands like Green Day and My Chemical Romance, as the legacy of the original generation of Punk bands continues to inspire artists today. While Punk is a great show for less experienced rockers, it still challenges more advanced students and teaches them the art of showmanship and stage presence. Don your spikes, mohawk, and ripped jeans and get ready for a season of Punk Rock!

Desert rock is a style of rock music that emerged from the deserts of Southern California, especially around Palm Desert. It blends heavy, riff-driven sounds with a loose, hypnotic feel influenced by psychedelic rock, blues, and stoner rock. Characterized by fuzzy guitars, driving grooves, and an expansive, sun-baked atmosphere, desert rock often feels both raw and spacious—reflecting the open landscapes where it developed. Bands like Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age helped define the genre, known for its unpolished energy and jam-like intensity.

This show is all about mainstream, radio-friendly hard rock—especially popular in the 2000s—that’s characterized by polished production, heavy yet generic riffs, and emotionally dramatic vocals. Groups like Nickelback, Creed, and Hinder are frequently associated together. Blending post-grunge, hard rock, and pop-rock influences, their music is built around big choruses, crunchy guitars, and themes ranging from relationships and nostalgia to partying and small-town life.

Led Zeppelin has been synonymous with being the innovators of the Hard Rock genre. Formed originally as a new version of the British Invasion group The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin quickly took shape to become the most popular rock band in the world, filling arenas and selling millions of albums. The mastermind behind it all was Jimmy Page. As a studio musician, producer, and songwriter, Page recruited Robert Plant (vocals), John Paul Jones (bass), and John Bonham (drums), and began a decade-long journey of prolific songwriting. Songs like “Stairway to Heaven”, “Black Dog”, “Good Times Bad Times”, and “The Ocean” have become rock standards and rights of passage for aspiring musicians. Led Zeppelin’s blend of Hard Rock, Blues, and Folk has remained the primary inspiration for many of today’s rock bands. Any student participating in this show is sure to gain a wealth of musical knowledge and advancement. The Led Zeppelin show has challenges for every skill level - it will turn beginners into intermediates and will transform intermediate players into advanced rockers!
