She attended Winthrop University and earned her degree in musical theatre and outdoor leadership.
Ariel has been playing in rock bands such as WAGS and I Hate Dave for over five years. She also occasionally DJs, produces, and sings features on hip/hop and EDM tracks. Her musical influences range from chamber choral music to hardcore punk.
Ariel worked as an instructor at School of Rock Charlotte for four years and has worked as School of Rock Waxhaw's music director since we opened in 2025.
Ariel aims to inspire students to grow and unlock their ultimate musical potential while expressing themselves through music that they love.
Kevin Luke
Drum Teacher
School of Rock Waxhaw drum teacher Kevin started playing drums when he was 12 years old, learning rudiments on a practice pad for two years before getting his first drum set. He started teaching drums at a local music store while in high school, as well as playing live in various bands and recording in studios around the Virginia, Maryland, DC area. Touring continued up and down the east coast through college, and upon graduating, he moved to Los Angeles with his band, where he played and recorded at many of the famous Southern California venues and recording studios.
In 2007, he relocated to the Charlotte area, where he continues to play and record with various acts. In 2025, he released a solo EP where he wrote, recorded and performed the four tracks. He lists Jerry Gaskill, John Bonham, Abe Laboriel Jr. and Neil Peart as influences.
Daniel Horton
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Daniel grew up in a musical family. His father worked as a music teacher and pastor of worship throughout his childhood, and passed on both his education and opportunities, giving Daniel a long history of musical performance. He attended the Central Academy of Technology and Arts, where he studied in the music production and recording arts pathway, here he discovered his love for songwriting and music theory.
Through the end of high school and in college, he worked as a freelance songwriter, completing over 75 industry contracts for DJs, bands, and artists in genres ranging from Country to Alternative Rock, and won awards in various music competitions, including the International Songwriting Contest (Finalist and Honorable Mention) and American Songwriter Song Competition. He releases music regularly, both recording and writing each aspect independently, and has written close to 1,000 songs in his lifetime.
Nowadays, Daniel spends his time volunteering musically for various churches and directing worship for Waxhaw Baptist Church. He is proficient in bass guitar, vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, and keyboard + piano, each of which he has played and performed in professional settings for over five years. He aims to share his love for music with his students at School of Rock Waxhaw, and he most enjoys developing each to have their own unique musical style. His favorite genres are Folk, Indie Rock, and Midwest Emo.
