A collection of legendary voices: Queen, ABBA, and The Bee Gees among others. The School of Rock West Des Moines adult student performance band added their own flair to famous hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Dancing Queen, and Stayin' Alive at Kenny's Garage in Waukee.
Terri Henman is a singer with the group, and the July show was her fifth performance with SOR. She says it was great watching the band pull off such difficult songs, especially Bohemian Rhapsody.
"I wasn't on it, but they (the band) struggled with it at rehearsals and then totally nailed it at the show!" she said.
And they did! The crowd was electric and turned the concert into a dance party near the end of the show.
Special guest Student Driver, the School of Rock Cedar Rapids/Marion adult student performance band, also performed a set. Collaborations like this are not only fun for the crowd but also for band members.
"They were awesome, love that group," Henman said.
This season truly brought out vocal groups from everyone, and Henman said she felt the challenge, but everyone in the group feels like family, making the experience highly gratifying.
