MAY INSTRUCTOR HIGHLIGHT: RUNEII KE’OTA KELL

This guitar, bass, and vocals teacher hopes each lesson for her students can teach life skills such as leadership, cooperation, and responsibility.

Many of our instructors played music for many years. Runeii Ke’ota Kell has been taking piano lessons since first grade so it was only natural to share her skills with younger students.

“Music has saved my life on more than one occasion and playing/partaking in music has taught me so much,” she said.

As the studio coordinator at one school while teaching at another, she says the things children know is always mind-blowing.

“I’ve seen students find their community and grow into amazing people in a very short time at the school and it’s very fulfilling to help foster that environment/be a role model,” Kell said.

While she continues to help her students foster musical and life skills, her goal is to inspire other trans people to be visible through whatever they do.

More about Runeii:

Favorite song to perform: Favorite riff to play is The Ending Riff of Wires by Red Fang. Favorite song to play live is either my band’s song Death at an Early Age or Coveter.
Fun fact: She loves role playing games and just started running a new game in Dungeons and Dragons
