Our Rookies program is for our 6 and 7 year old Rockers and is a monthly membership program that involves a weekly 45 minute class. We see the Rookies program as our introduction to what we do at School of Rock and see kids leaving here at 8 to join in our Rock 101 and start lessons. Because at 6 and 7, kids this age generally don’t thrive in private lessons. They have issues with the fine motor control required to play the guitar, bass, drums and keys. Additionally, most kids this age want to play ALL the instruments; they don’t want to have to select one over the other and parents certainly don’t want to purchase a guitar only to find out their Rookie Rocker wants to play drums six months later...or vice versa. Rookie Rockers provides hands-on learning with guitar, bass, drums and keyboards scaled to smaller hands and vocal instruction designed for this age group. Rookies will practice ear training, come to understand song structure, learn to play rhythm patterns, play and perform in a group to experience teamwork and above all develop a love of music through inspiration and fun. These will be small group rehearsals, with kids in masks and socially distancing. If they cannot socially distance, they will be asked to leave. Rookies is offered on Saturdays at 11:00-11;45 am and Thursdays at 4:00-4:45 pm. There is an option to "try" a free class for Free provided there is openings in that class, call us at 847-915-6201 or email us to schedule. Rookies is a ongoing monthly plan at $80 a month for 4 classes a month.
We are Open for onsite lessons and small group rehearsals. We will continue to offer Remote lessons as an option as well.
