No! We want beginners to start their musical journey with us! Whether 4 or 74 give us a call.
Because we are a performance-based school, we teach in a group setting. Group programs range from $125 to $369 per month. All group programs include a weekly 45 minute private lesson. All group classes (Rookies, Rock 101, Performance and Adult rehearsals) range from 1 to 2 hours per week as well. Our little wing program is 45 minutes for the little ones 3 to 5 years old.
Yes you can! Although we strongly encourage playing music in a group as learning is accelerated. Our philosophy is if you just practised hockey, baseball, football, basketball, etc. and never played a game then why practise. Our students practise as well and then our game is "the big rock show" at the end of each season. This gives our students a goal to aim for. This process keeps the kids engauged while having a ton of fun playing music with others. But hey, we understand that some want to start with private lessons so we offer that as well in 30 or 45 minute weekly classes.
The difference at School of Rock is we are a PERFORMANCE BASED MUSIC EDUCATOR. We believe in child learning music in groups while also doing a private one on one lesson each week. Generally speaking 8 year olds are a good time to start private music lessons. Depending on your child's attention span usually 30 minutes is recommended to start. School of Rock's standard music lessons are 45 minutes. The private lesson is coupled with a group rehearsal each week so kids that have learned a song in their private lesson can now play it together with other inspiring musicians! Pretty cool and lots of fun! Check this out!
There are many sizes of sticks. 5A or 5B are the most common for all musical genres. 7A or 7B are a thinner stick compared to 5A and 5B's For rock music some drummers like heavier, thicker sticks. Also you can buy wood or pylon tips. Wood give a soft tone on cymbals as pylon get a brighter tone when hitting a cymbal.
