When Allegra Hernandez played the piano at age 9, they didn't think music would be their career. Since hitting the keys as a child, their interest in music led them to become the music director at School of Rock West Des Moines. Read on to see what inspired the musician to become a teacher.
Isla Wilson is a student at School of Rock West Des Moines. She has been rocking bass and vocals for about two years. Her favorite part of the experience is meeting new people and learning new songs.
When we hear about STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, music probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But actually, it fits in perfectly. The Cedar Rapids/Marion House Band and staff showed the crowd why and how at Collins Aerospace's first Community STEM Day on July 13.
Chloe Weidl is a drums instructor at the Cedar Rapids/Marion School of Rock and has been part of the staff since April 2021. Before becoming a teacher, Weidl was a student at the SOR in Geneva, IL while in high school. So, the transition to teaching was easy when she moved to Iowa because she already knew how the program works.
